Essay on Opinion About Danger of Mobile Phones

Are Cell Phones Really Dangerous? It is, of course, hard to tell for sure, but the density of similar hysterias in the last years makes me believe that this one will go just like all the other ones. Radiation from the computer screen, atypical pneumonia, bird flu, Apocalypse-2012 (which replaced the one predicted in 2009, 1999, 2000 and virtually any other year), Big Hadron Collider, ozone hole, year 2000 problem – all of them come and go and many are already completely forgotten, no matter how important they were considered only a few years ago. Cell phones are supposed to emit radiation that may, in the long run, cause brain cancer and other horrible things. To my mind, the only danger cell phones present is contained in the fact how easy it is now to find any person if you know his or her phone number. In its essential features the problem of theoretical harm that may be caused by the prolonged usage of mobile phones most resembles the problems listed above and the reason of creating it seems to be the same – somebody wants to get some profit from it: either from issuing new models of phones that are supposed to emit less radiation, or from promoting other means of communication, or from the control that may be imposed on the cell phones producers. All in all, there is no corroborative evidence proving the danger represented by the cell phones and it is doubtful that it will ever be received – for how can one link these two facts and be sure that they are really causing something. There are quite enough brain cancer cases anyway, and the majority of people use cell phones nowadays, so how can one know what is caused by them, if anything? As the saying goes, there are three degrees of lies: lie, blatant lie and statistics.
